I really only noticed the whole Pantone Color of the Year thing since last year. It was tangerine tango, and back at the time it was announced I didn’t have any orange in my collection. This year it’s different, because it’s emerald and green is one of the colors that I am the most obsessed with! Today I’m showing you 10 pieces in my collection. They might not be all be strictly emerald in Pantone’s definition, but they’re guaranteed to give your looks an interesting twist!
First up we have the pressed eyeshadows. The darker shade in Hourglass Dune Visionaire Eye Shadow Duo might not be as green as I had wanted it to be, but over time it has proven to be well-used and loved. Wet n’ Wild’s Color Icon Singles have always been a big hit, and Envy does live up to its good name! MAC Humid is one of the first eyeshadows that taught me colors are really fun. Even if you are normally skeptical about wearing green, give Humid a try because it’s so easy to incorporate it with neutrals as well!
L’Oreal Emerald Lame Infallible Eyeshadow (I believe it is called Golden Emerald in the US) is something worth looking for if you are a green fiend, particularly if the Infallibles last well on you. Just swipe it on and maybe blend a brown into your crease, and you’re ready to go!
Bobbi Brown Forest Shimmer Ink Gel Liner is more like an interesting mixture of khaki, brown, and gold. Not only is the color very interesting and versatile (think about how many shades it works with), the formula goes on nice and opaque. A lot of non-black gel liners have quite a bit of underlying sheerness that you have to keep building up to get rid of, but not this one. It’s a softer alternative to black, and since it’s so many of my favorite shades rolled into one, I thought it’s worth mentioning here!
Here we have Tarte SmolderEYES Rainforest Black (from the Tarte holiday pencil set), Urban Decay Mildew, and Urban Decay Stash 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils. Lining your lower lash line with a pop of green is a coy way of spicing things up without shouting “COLOR!” if it’s not (yet) your thing. On top of that, they make great eyeshadow bases as well!
Last but not least, let’s dress our tips in green as well! Here we have a england Dragon and China Glaze Jolly Holly (I believe this one is limited edition from some years ago). If you like green or holo, you really really need to lay your hands on a england Dragon!
How about you? Is emerald or green in general your thing? What are some of your favorite green pieces in the collection?
