Dry Oil for Beginners: Bodhi Desert Rose Rejuvenating Face Oil

Bodhi Desert Rose Rejuvenating Face Oil

A while ago when I reviewed Bodhi Eseential Skin Care Set, I promised to test out their new Desert Rose Rejuvenating Face Oil thoroughly and report back. Now that I have spent enough time using it, I am ready to share my experience!

Bodhi dry oil

The bottle of Bodhi Desert Rose Rejuvenating Face Oil that comes with the Essential Skin Care Set is a 5ml mini one. The full-size bottle is 30ml (RRP: 56 GBP), though from what I can see the packaging is pretty much the same. I like the opaque glass bottle. It has always struck me as weird that none of the other dry oils I have tried come in opaque bottles. Most of them claim to contain anti-oxidants, and an opaque bottle like this one would protect the product much more effectively!

There is a guard on the pump, so you don’t have to worry about the oil accidentally getting pumped out in a travel bag. I have actually opened the bottle to see how the tube is. Not only does it go all the way to the bottom, it is shaped in a very special way that I believe will make getting the oil out easy all the way till the end. Kudos to Bodhi for having thought about everything!

Bodhi Desert Rose Rejuvenating Face Oil Review

Bodhi Desert Rose Rejuvenating Oil is slightly yellowish and rather liquid when it is pumped out. It smells like rose as well as a couple other essential oils (bitter orange, sandalwood…). I use one pump for my face, which is the equivalent of 3-4 drops for the dry oils that come with a droplet. The oil is very light, and it is absorbed very easily. It also feels drier in comparison. Before the weather got cold, I could get away with this and no moisturizer on top. Nowadays however, I prefer to layer a moisturizer.

Despite the fact that is is so lightweight, Bodhi Desert Rose Rejuvenating Oil does what it promises to do. My skin is velvety soft, hydrated, and radiant with this oil. Fine lines aren’t a concern for me yet so I can’t evaluate the anti-aging benefits it claims to have, but all in all it is amazing for such a fine oil to achieve so much. It functions well enough alone, but it also makes a great serum should you choose to layer a lotion/cream on top.

I would recommend Bodhi Desert Rose Rejuvenating Face Oil especially to people who have always been tempted to try a dry oil, but who are afraid it’s going to be too much for their skin type. The minimal residue this oil leaves will be less likely to put people off, yet it still does a great job hydrating and nourishing the skin. I am a bit of a dry oil veteran already, but I still really appreciate this one. It will be very pleasant to use alone when the weather is warmer, and as a serum it has kept my skin perked-up in winter!

Bodhi Desert Rose Rejuvenating Face Oil ingredientsBottom line: If you have always wanted to try a dry oil but you are not sure if you would be put off by the “greasy” feeling, give Bodhi Desert Rose Rejuvenating Oil a chance. Not only are the ingredients top-notch, the gossamer-thin texture will ease you into the world of dry oil. The minimal residue and great nourishing power are what make this one stand out. Why not look into Bodhi Essential Skin Care Set and try this 5ml bottle just to see how it works?

Have you tried a dry oil? Not yet? Don’t wait! The day you discover a good dry oil, you’ll realize you can never live without it ever again!

Oooh, now this looks like a great oil! The ingredients look amazing!

    • Sunny

Oh yay, I’m glad you think it looks promising!

Ooh darn, thanks for the reminder.. How long does the scent last?

    • Sunny

I don’t smell too much of it once it’s on my face, but when I pumped it out to try it on the back of my hand, I did notice the smell lingers a while. It’s still a very natural smell though, nothing too powdery or feminine!

    i’m always afraid oil will cause a break-out :)

    • Sunny

Well no oil has done that to me at all. I wouldn’t speak for ALL skin types, but I think most people can benefit from some dry oil!

I love a dry oil! I think it’s important for everyone that it absorbs well, I love to mix them along with my foundation as well. This sounds so lovely. I’m definitely intrigued by skin care with roses, it feels so luxurious! I’m using Kahina Giving Beauty Agan Oil, which is exceptional! Opaque, glass bottle as well an important detail that I completely agree with you on! Would love to try this as well :-)

Hey Taylor, thanks for introducing me to a new brand! I think this is the first dry oil I’ve tried with argan oil as the first ingredient. Since I really do like it I should look for more!

Fantastic review, Sunny! I am a HUGE proponent of face oils and have used them for years! My Holy Grail Oil is Rodin Olio Lusso Luxury Face Oil, and I also love Sponge Ladi Avokanto– both are excellent and constants in my stash. I use them alone, I use them as serums under moisturizers, I mix them with foundations and tinted moisturizers. It is the one beauty step that I try never to skip. Thanks for introducing me to this dry oil– I will definitely have to check it out now!

    • Sunny

Thanks Lola! Thanks for sharing your favorites! I’ll have to check them out! I only use dry oil at nighttime, but I can see how more it can do for those with drier skin! If you do get this one I hope you’ll like it!

    Hi Sunny,
I’m not sure how to get this product in Singapore. I am quite new to oil to this sounds great for me especially you mentioned that it absorbs easily :)

    • Sunny

Hey Meryl, Bodhi is available on their own site as well as Beautybay. I just checked Beautybay. They have this in full-size but apparently not the set. Hope this still helps!

i’ve been using a face oil a few months ago and i think everyone should try adding a face oil to their regimen and see what happens – this oil sounds very potent!

    • Sunny

Hey Jenni, yes I agree! I’m not too sure about the acne-prone skin type, because it could get irritated easily. But everyone else? Yes! This oil is very lightweight, but it for sure does a lot!
