Not Your Typical Spring Shade: Chanel Accessoire Le Vernis

Chanel Accessoire 573

Does a vampy brown with a dash of burgundy say spring to you? Nope? Not to me either, but apparently for Chanel it does! Accessoire Le Vernis (573, RRP in Belgium: 23 euros) is probably the darkest nail polish you are going to see in most spring collections, but it will for sure see you through this awkward “not-quite-spring” kind of weather!

Chanel Accessoire Le Vernis is a dark red-based brown. At first I thought it was a darkened burgundy, but once I put it on my nails I realized it really is more of a brown. At certain angles I see a dash of burgundy, but it is mostly a dark and vampy brown.

Chanel Accessoire

Unlike Fracas and Emprise, Accessoire is a straightforward crème with no shimmer (not even the kind that is only visible in bottle). The consistency is again excellent. It is not too thin, not too thick, and it flows beautifully on. It is pretty amazing with one coat, though to get the most out of this vampy shade I would recommend two.

Accessoire wears for 4 days with minimal tip wear on me, which is about the best any nail polish can do! It’s great news particularly for such a dark shade, as chips could be very visible.

One more with my hand next to my face. Is it me or does Accessoire make my hand look fairer?

Chanel Accessoire NOTD

The only nail polish in my collection that seems similar is Dior Rouge Garçonne Vernis. However, just looking at the bottles side by side tells me there is a lot more burgundy in Rouge Garçonne, so they aren’t even close!

Bottom line: If you don’t already own anything similar, Chanel Accessoire Le Vernis is a good one to consider. Despite the fact that it came out with the spring collection, it is not limited edition and I don’t necessarily think this shade is limited to spring. I personally wouldn’t mind wearing it in autumn or winter at all!

Is Accessoire a must-have in your book? Do you already own something similar? Would you go vampy for spring?

It doesn’t seem very spring like, does it? It’s interesting, but coming out of winter and fall I think I like to embrace brighter shades.

    I like your ring, Sunny!

    • Sunny

Thanks Larie! Nope Accessoire isn’t strictly a spring shade, though it is one that will work all-year-round if you like some vamp!

I got the ring from a small brand back home. It’s supposed to look like a kind of climbing fig 😉

  • Chris El

I love the contrast between a vampy mani and soft spring eyeshadows. Oh, and I love the ring that you’re wearing. 😉

    • Sunny

Thanks Chris! It’s a ring that I got from a brand back home. They have a lot of leaf-y designs which are very me!

  • beauties

i like it :) although it seems more purple-y than i thought it would be

    • Sunny

I actually can’t really see eggplant in there. It’s more of a dark red-based brown!

  • Redhotjillypeppers

Gorgeous shade ! I do not limit myself to seasons and wear almost every colour all year round :)

    • Sunny

Yay same here! I to instinctively reach for brighter shades in spring/summer, but I definitely wear jewel-toned shades all year round!

  • Claire

I agree with you, doesn’t seem very spring like but the shade is gorge nevertheless. I have a similar essie one, hence my decision to skip on this one and my Kure Bazaar seems to be an almost dupe. I really like the first picture <3

    • Sunny

Thanks so much Claire! If you already own similar shades I wouldn’t say this one is a must-have. Still, it’s so interesting to see this in a spring release!

  • Kelly

I absolutely love vampy shades, I do own several colours like this so Accessoire is not a must in my book. By the way, thanks again for liking my photo for the contest, I really appreciate your support.

    • Sunny

      You’re welcome, Kelly!

  • Donah

I love to try out new shades, whether from neon to vampy, it all depends on my mood, I should say. To be fair, I’m a pastel girl and all things with softer shades and glitters! hehe But I like the look on this one and it definitely suits your outfit and makeup. 😉 xx Donah

    • Sunny

Haha you have such a different taste for nail polishes! Pastel and glitter are two things I tend to avoid 😉

  • Tracy@Beauty Reflections

I like the shade a lot, but what’s the green eyeshadow you are wearing? It’s gorgeous on you!

    • Sunny

      It’s Guerlain Coup de Foudre!

  • Peggy Timmermans Visagie

I like the color on your nails, but for me it doesn’t do it. I prefer the Fracas one out this collection.

    • Sunny

Thanks Peggy! Fracas still remains my favorite. It’s just so cheerful!

  • Icaria

Love it! It almost seems almost neutral. Not sure I could justify it since I have a few similar shades. Again, green is gorgeous on you! :)

    • Sunny

      Aww thanks girl!

  • Dominique33

Perfect shade for Fall. I have just applied Expression, it’s not the same colour range^^. What do you think of the new Chanel ones ( Expression, la Laque Rouge, Rouge Flamboyant, Rouge n° 19 etc.. )? To me they are truly beautiful, I hope they are permanent but not quite sure in fact.

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Dominique, I haven’t seen those yet! I think they’ll be available here next week. I’ll have to check them out in person, because in the promo image I’m just not sure. I am not SO big on red in general though!
