Burberry Antique Pink Lip Velvet

When I showed you Burberry Rosewood Sheer Eye Shadow earlier this week, I mentioned I got a gift with purchase. Now will you look at this tiny little Burberry Antique Pink Lip Velvet? It’s cute as a button, and the formula is seriously impressive!

What I love the most about this miniature is the fact that not only does it allow me to sample the formula, the packaging is the same with a full-size Burberry lipstick (minus the magnetic closure). You can find the signature checkered pattern everywhere, including the bullet!

Burberry Antique Pink

No, 303 Antique Pink Lip Velvet is a rather neutral pink with a strong brown undertone. It is so neutral that it pulls slightly cool on me, because I can see some mauve on my lips. It has a light perfume-y smell which is typical for luxury lipsticks. The finish of Antique Pink is probably one of the most matte ones I have seen. It doesn’t have a creamy sheen like a lot of matte lipsticks out there. It has maybe a very slight silky sheen but that’s all.

The formula of Antique Pink is beautiful. It glides on very easily, and with one pass it’s fully opaque. It is not too creamy, so there’s no sliding around at all, but it doesn’t pull or tug either. It is very lightweight in a way that you will barely remember you have a lipstick on, let alone such an opaque one. It doesn’t smooth over lip lines, but it certainly doesn’t emphasize them either. It wears comfortably for around 5 hours on me. There is very little transfer when I drink, and it fades evenly when I eat.

Bottom line: Burberry Antique Pink Lip Velvet is a lipstick that I feel comfortable recommending. If you’re looking for a rather matte lipstick that is easy as pie to apply, lasts well, and wears comfortably, take a look at this formula. Antique Pink is rather neutral, so it should be flattering on most. I am hoping Burberry will expand the line soon so that I can find a compelling shade or two to splurge on!

    Oh whoa it looks so much darker and more brown swatched than in the tube! I really love the color, it looks so natural on you. And umm a lip color that barely transfers when drinking!? I can’t think of any lip product I own that I can say that about, except maybe using lip liner as a lip stick

      Hey Catherine, I have tried some lip products that don’t transfer much, and this is one of them! Usually the more lightweight and less slippery a lipstick is, the less it transfer. At least that’s how things go in my experience!

    That’s a very Burberry like colour, love it. I really like those Burberry mattes, nevertheless, I still need a lipbalm. I think they are pretty long lasting as well and fade evenly. Bright Poppy and Military red are my favs <3

    Oooooooh this looks like a MLBB colour that might work on me! I find most of them make my lips look freakishly full (i.e. pornstar lip) or suck all the colour out of my face.

    Cute lipstick and it looks wonderful on you. The color on you reminds me of my new YSL Volupte Shine in No. 9 Nude in Private that I have been wearing just about everyday. The only difference is Burberry is matte and YSL is creamy and little shiny, maybe leans a tiny bit coral. Argh! You make me want to run to the Burberry counter and I’m trying to be good (esp. after my last makeup purchase)!!!

      Yeah I love the formula, but for the moment I don’t feel compelled to grab anything. I might go for Military Red when it gets cold again though. For the moment I am very preoccupied with corals ;)

    i tried the burberry matte velvet in bright poppy and thought it was terrible. the color was great, but it went on really unevenly and felt extremely dry. i couldn’t even wear it because it looked/felt so terrible. i thought i would love it based on all the positive reviews, but it was definitely a miss for me. glad i was able to return it.
