Hands Down the Best Dry Shampoos I’ve Tried! Klorane Gentle Dry Shampoo with Oat Extract & Dry Seboregulating Shampoo

Klorane Gentle Dry Shampoo with Oat Extract, Dry Seboregulating Shampoo

Hey everyone! Just a quick post to tell you I have found my holy grail dry shampoos! I have tried a couple others in the past, but none of them is worth writing home about. A while ago I decided to give Klorane a go. They have two dry shampoos, including the classic Gentle Dry Shampoo with Oat Extract and the newer version, Dry Seboregulating Shampoo (with nettle. Both go for around 11 euros here). Being the curious person that I am, I picked both up!

Klorane dry shampoo review

Long story short, I don’t think I’ll want to try anything else soon! None of these has a very strong fragrance, though they do have some scent to make hair smell fresher. The spray is just powerful enough, but not so powerful that it becomes impossible to avoid getting it on the hair. None of the formulas is drying for my hair. If a little accidentally gets on it, it would tangle up a little, but definitely not the painfully brittle mess that I have experienced before.

Now, what’s the difference between these two? Let me start with the Gentle Dry Shampoo with Oat Extract. If you don’t have an oily scalp, this is what I would recommend. It gently freshens hair up, gives the roots some lift, and the effect lasts a whole day. The Dry Seboregulating Shampoo really absorbs excess sebum on the scalp well. I like the amount of lift it gives the roots: it is seriously just about as good as a volumizing styling product! The best part? The roots pretty much stay that way! My experience with most volumizing products is I have to keep ruffling my hair up every 20 minutes if I want it to stay volumized, but with this dry shampoo the lift is natural yet persistent! The effect also lasts around two days for me, so I can use it two days before I shampoo my hair, and it’ll look pretty good till that happens!

Bottom line: No chunky white mess, no harsh drying, and the most natural root lift I’ve yet to witness from a dry shampoo, Klorane Gentle Dry Shampoo with Oat Extract and Dry Seboregulating Shampoo are by far the best ones I have tried. With the combination of chemically-treated, sensitized hair and scalp that leans oily, I kept thinking dry shampoos would either be too drying for my hair or not sebum-absorbing enough for my scalp. Both Klorane dry shampoos prove otherwise! My personal favorite is the Dry Seboregulating Shampoo, as it gives my roots a really nice lift and the effect lasts for two days. If your scalp isn’t on the oily side, then the Gentle Dry Shampoo with Oat Extract should do the trick! They are not the cheapest dry shampoos around, but so far they are the only ones I will repurchase!

Have you tried any of the Klorane dry shampoos?

sounds nice :) heard from klorane before but haven’t got any products

    • Sunny

You should give the dry shampoos a try! I’ve tried their shampoos in the past, but that’s too long ago so I can’t remember anything now!

I have a mini off this! Love it!! I’m gonna by a fullsize i think! :-)

    • Sunny

Yaay good to know! It’s always nice if you get to try a mini first!

  • http://redotjillypeppers.com Redhotjillypeppers

I’ve tried a shampoo of this brand before and it was also really nice !

    • Sunny

Good to know, Jill! I think I’ve tried a shampoo or two in the past as well, but that was a long time ago and I can’t remember anything now!

One of my favourite products EVAR. I’ve been using this one to actually shampoo my hair, and the Batiste ones for styling. I love love love the way this one smells — it actually feels like a shower in a bottle.

    • Sunny

Hahaha I wouldn’t go that far myself, but it is pretty awesome!

  • http://mybeautysample.com/ Becca @ The Beauty Sample

I KNEW IT!! haha I’ve heard sooo so many good things about Klorane’s dry shampoos that I have always regarded them as the best though I still have yet to try anything from the brand :P I have NEVER found an aerosol dry shampoo that I’ve liked though–they ALWAYS make my hair feel dirtier than before :/ Maybe it’s because I’m not used to having product in my hair but it just feels gross to me. So even though I’m curious about Klorane’s, I wonder if I should just get the powder version instead. I have Oscar Blandi’s dry shampoo and I like it better than any aerosol formula I’ve tried–though I still don’t really LIKE-like it. It’s just too white and I feel like it totally looks like I have dandruff :/ ahhh such bad luck with dry shampoos…maybe they just aren’t for me but I just keep hoping and trying haha

    • Sunny

Hey Becca, I might have tried their shampoos in the past but I can’t remember much about them anymore! I hate how most styling products feel as well, but I don’t have that problem with dry shampoos. So sorry to hear about the Oscar Blandi one! I haven’t tried any that is not an aerosol, so I have no idea how it’d work! But seriously, see if you can find a display of these and spray the tester on. They’re your best hopes!

I`m not a fan of dry shampoos period, but Klorane always seemed superior to other stuff in the drugstore. I`ve tried TRESemme which doesn`t feel clean at all, and Batiste looks like they all smell really strong. I`ll have to remember this if there`s a dirty hair emergency. :D

    • Sunny

Hey Liz, I like to have some around in case of emergencies! Even my boyfriend lets me spray dry shampoo on his head, and that is pretty exceptional! My problem with Batiste (I’ve only tried the XXL version) is it was very drying for my hair, and the spray was very powerful so it’s hard not to get any on my hair. At the same time though I know a lot of people are real fans. Goes to say how different hair is!

  • http://mylucitedreams.com Taylor

Yes, I liked this one too! I find them all to have really offensive odors. This one didn’t and it felt that it worked the best. I’ve kind of just given up on them again. My scalp gets uncomfortable greasy, I can’t deal. I’m using scalp toners instead.

    • Sunny

Aww I’m so sorry to hear about your scalp! What toners are you using? Don’t think I’ve seen many of those around!

  • casey23

Ok, the timing couldn’t be better! My easy, cheap dry shampoo just finished and I was planning to try Klorane when I found out that it is almost as cheap as the other wannabes. I have oily scalp but unfortunately I don’t think the dry seboregulating on is available here yet. What do you say about the original (oat extract) to use on oily scalp?

    • Sunny

Hey Casey, the original will work as well, but it might give your roots less of a lift (still, there will be a lift and it will look natural). Also, the root lift might not last till the next day. I do like it as well because it is very gentle!

  • http://www.chloeash.com Lily

Oh, excellent! I wonder if this is available here. The only dry shampoo I found here is Fudge, and something else from Sephora. I haven’t heard of Klorane. I’m going to have a look when I’m in KL!

    • Sunny

Hey Lily, Klorane might be available at certain pharmacies? Here it is a pharmaceutical brand! Hope this helps :)

  • http://miaka-mylife.blogspot.com/ Ruby

Thanks for the review. I have heard good things about dry shampoo but have been skeptical about the effectiveness of them. The only dry shampoo I tried so far is from Marc Anthony http://www.marcanthony.com/products/2nd-day-hair/invisible-clear-dry-shampoo and I think it is decent.

    • Sunny

Hey Ruby, I have heard good things about the MA line but again it’s not available here. I think it also depends on the climate you live in? Back home in Taiwan NOBODY ever uses dry shampoos. I only started not so long ago myself.

  • http://www.unprofessionalbeautyblog.com Angela @ The Unprofessional Beauty Blog

Sunny, you made this sounds so good. I’ve heard some nice things about this brand’s dry shampoo before, and now I definitely want to give it a try. I’m currently using the Suave dry shampoo, and it’s been very nice.

    • Sunny

Hey Angela, you should give these a try! We don’t get Suave here and the mega-popular Batiste XXL really dried my hair out :(

  • http://kissandmakeupsbeautyblog.wordpress.com/ Kiss & Make-up

Oh my, so this is the one you mentioned one time in your comment on a blog post of mine, huh? It almost sounds to good to be true! I am definitely going to give it a try, thanks for sharing this, Sunny! X

    • Sunny

Hey Melissa, I think it might be! You’re welcome! I hope you’ll like them because this is repurchase material for me!

  • http://www.thesmalllittlethingsinlife.blogspot.com Annick

Yay! So glad to hear you liked these. I’ve been looking to read a good review of them before I purchase and I’m glad to read yours (because I trust your opinion girl!)

I’ll definitely be purchasing the Klorane dry shampoo when I run out of my Batiste brunette dry shampoo. Glad to hear there’s no white residue as well!

    • Sunny

Aww Annick, I’m so flattered! The spray isn’t TOO powerful, so as long as you keep the regular distance and massage it in you’ll be fine. They’re such life savers!

  • http://icarias.blogspot.ca Icaria

I received a travel size of one of them (can’t remember which, will have to look for it) but never tried it. Now I definitely will. :)

    • Sunny

You should! I hope you’ll like it!

  • http://mirror-reality.com/ Philippe

Haha lovely how you’re discovering all my favorites to become yours too. Tried a lot of dry shampoo’s already but this one is still be best. Just could have lasted a bit longer or contain more.

    • Sunny

Haha yeah I wish the bottles were bigger too, but no suck luck ;) I guess good products are good products eh!

  • http://www.selphia.com Selphia

This dry shampoo is the best :) Smells nice too.

    • Sunny

Glad to hear you like it too!

  • http://bronzerbunny.com Joyce (bronzerbunny)

i feel like i tried this ages ago, but i can’t remember. LOL! my favorite dry shampoo right now is Oscar Blandi Invisible Dry Shampoo :)

    • Sunny

Oh I haven’t tried that! Don’t think it’s available here either but I’ll keep that in mind!
