Several days ago, I mentioned I was unreasonably excited about getting Catrice Absolute Nude Eyeshadow Palette and It’s a Matte World Ultimate Color Lipstick in the June Deauty Box. I also promised to come back with a look and swatches/reviews about the two products, so let’s get cracking!
Catrice Absolute Nude Eyeshadow Palette (4,99 euros) contains 6 neutral shades. Some are more satin while others more shimmery. It’s a Matt World (3,99 euros) is one of the two new matte shades that has recently been added to the Ultimate Color Lipstick line. The packaging of both items is surprisingly sturdy, and the brush that comes with the palette is not scratchy at all! Color me impressed!
In short, the shades in Catrice Absolute Nude Eyeshadow Palette are decent. The texture is slightly drier and more powdery when swatched, but they are pretty easy to use (on top of a primer. It makes a real difference in this case). Some require a little more building up, but in general pigmentation is fine, and they blend very easily,
If you already have a good collection of neutral shades, I wouldn’t say Catrice Absolute Nude is a must-have. It’s a decent palette for the price, but it would be going too far to say it performs just as well as its more expensive counterparts. Nevertheless, I would absolutely recommend it to beginners and budget hunters. The shades are blendable and none of them is too dark, so it is virtually impossible to make any mistakes with it. For merely 4,99 euros, it really isn’t bad!
Catrice It’s a Matt World is an orange red with a satin sheen. It has a light sweet candy scent that doesn’t linger for too long. It glides on easily and gives opaque coverage in one pass. When I press my lips together, I could feel the texture is slightly waxy, but really very slightly so. It also emphasizes the lips’ natural texture, but again, only very slightly so. I doubt it’s something people can see from a normal viewing distance.
The lasting power of Catrice It’s a Matt World is decent. It seems to break down a little faster than other matte lipsticks I’ve tried, but it won’t be gone till after a full meal (it leaves a stain behind as well). It tends to leave a darker ring around the edge, but it doesn’t smear all over the place. It is not moisturizing, but it is not drying, either. All in all, it’s a good lipstick, especially considering the price!
For the look, I used the 3 shades on the right of Absolute Nude for the inner half, outer half, and outer v. I highlighted my inner corners with the lightest shade, and smudged the darkest shade on my lower lash line.
See, glam party eyes and lips for 9 euros in total!
What do you think? What was the last good drugstore product you found?
