Long-time readers might know that I am not very passionate about nudes. I have some that work, but I can’t say any of them makes me giddy: until I tried Dior Grège 1947 Rouge Dior!
Dior Grège 1947 Rouge Dior (169. RRP in Belgium: 36,80 euros) is a pinkish beige with a healthy dose of pink. Chances are this is why it doesn’t wash me out at all! Grège 1947 has the same lightweight and creamy texture as the other Rouge Diors I have tried. It is not as opaque, most probably because it is a light shade. I would say one pass still gives good and even coverage, with some translucency for the natural lip color to peek through.
Here is how Grège 1947 swatches:
I compared it with some similar shades I have. From left to right: Dior Incognito Addict Extreme, Dior Grège 1947 Rouge Dior, and Clinique Curviest Caramel Chubby Intense.
Incognito works well enough on me as a nude, but perhaps still a little too beige. Curviest Caramel is between a nude and a my-lips-but-better on me, so sometimes it stands out a little too much to be a good nude. Grège 1947 on the other hand, has proven to be nude enough while never washing me out! Since it is a light shade, I’d put the wear time around 3.5- 4 hours with some drinks, but it will disappear with a meal. If this is not long enough for you, there is a Dior Contour with the same name that you can look into!
You have seen Dior Grège 1947 Rouge Dior on me in a couple of looks, including this one:
As well as this one:
Oh, did I mention (yet again) how hydrating the formula is? It makes my lips smoother and plumper, as well as any dry bits slough off!
Bottom line: If you want a hardcore concealer type of nude, Dior Grège 1947 Rouge Dior would definitely not be the one. I personally, however, have finally found a nude that I enjoy wearing. If you have never found a nude that has enough pink to not wash you out, give Grège 1947 a go!
So far I have showed you the “it shades” of the new Rouge Diors, including Darling, 999, Trafalgar, and Grège 1947, and I can already tell you this isn’t the last one. I have tried my fair share of good lipsticks, but these are probably the best in my book for one reason: the incredible hydration! They pack as much pigment as whatever lips need to look their best, and I’m so hooked!
Have you checked out the new Rouge Diors? Don’t say no, just do it, like today!
