Give me a coral and I’ll smile for you. Well actually, give me some Chanel I’ll smile for you, too! I have definitely underestimated Chanel Collection Variation when I thought it has real potential, because everything I have tried so far is nothing short of exhilarating! Let’s take a closer look at *Chanel Chéri Rouge Coco and *Chanel Conquise Rouge Allure today.
Upon closer examination, Chanel Chéri Rouge Coco (61) is actually a coral-peach with a satin sheen. I have called it understated, and it is. However, even on my skin tone, it is not exactly a very nude nude (can I get a hallelujah?).
One thing I have noticed with Chanel Chéri Rouge Coco is that if my lips are not as even as they can be to start with, a bit of the color tends to sink into lip lines. However, it is nothing I can’t fix with a quick swipe of a finger! Being a lighter color, Chéri wears for about 3 hours with some snacks and drinks. It doesn’t really stain, either. Like most Rouge Cocos I have tried, It is comfortable and hydrating to wear.

A couple of face shots so you get a better idea how it looks:
For me, Chanel Chéri Rouge Coco is one of those shades that I can just slick on. As you can see, even when paired with minimal makeup elsewhere, it totally works! It can definitely work with bolder eye looks as well. If you tend to like “MLBB” or everyday shades, you probably can’t go wrong with Chéri!
Chanel Conquise Rouge Allure (144) is a very tangerine-leaning coral with golden shimmer. Allow me to remind you that this beauty is limited edition, so you have to make up your mind fast!
What I like about the shimmer in this one is it is visible, but not over the top. Conquise glides on easily, leaving behind a lightweight layer of even color. It is somehow hydrating, and the lasting power is impressive! I basically went through a whole day reapplying only once. It survives drinks and even a big meal with an even stain.

The “big picture:”
I usually have a bigger soft spot for pink-leaning corals, but Conquise made me realize a good dose of tangerine in a coral is really beautiful as well! With all the corals I own, I can’t say I have one that is even remotely similar! If you are not sure about orange or tangerine shades, give Conquise a chance. It might change your mind!
Just in case you are curious, In both looks I’m wearing Chanel Apparence Illusion d’Ombre (limited edition from holiday 2012) all over my lid, with some Bobbi Brown Sable on the outer third and contour area. I have Dior Corail Bagatelle DiorBlush on my cheeks.
Bottom line: Personal preference aside, I have to say both Chanel Chéri Rouge Coco and Chanel Conquise Rouge Allure have wonderful formulas. They are most definitely worth looking into if the shades speak to you!
Would you be checking either Chéri or Conquise out?
