Infatuation is too casual a word when it comes to how I feel about *Givenchy Palette Metallic Reflection from their Autumn – Winter Vinyl Collection. I have made it my mission to show you how stunning this quad is inside and out before you can’t lay your hands on it anymore. While we’re at it, the *Mister Intense Black Mascara Top Coat and *Rouge Acajou Le Vernis are pretty awesome as well!
First of all, this is probably self-evident, but the compact of Givenchy Palette Metallic Reflection (4 grams/0,14 oz. RRP in Belgium: 54,50 euros) is breathtaking. I have a hunch that the part foil, part suede compact with a stud will be something a lot of us remember with fondness.
I never go “yay!” when I see pink eyeshadows, but Metallic Reflection is really killing it. It packs a burgundy-brown, a coppery pink, a purple taupe, and the palest pink. With the exception of the burgundy brown (which is shimmery), the other three shades are as high-shine, metallic, and glittery as you can imagine. Here’s the best part: my experience with this type of finish is usually it works better damp or just patted on with a finger, but these three are actually so incredibly pigmented, smooth, and easy to use (for your reference, I applied with MAC 239 and blended with MAC 217)! The burgundy brown is drier in the swatch, but it performs well enough on the eyes.

Essentially, these are pressed eyeshadows that work like hybrid ones. They are a no-brainer to apply and blend. I get little to no fallout during application (although just to be safe, it is still a good idea to start with the eyes). Post-application fallout is equally minimal.
Givenchy Mister Intense Black Mascara Top Coat (1 Black Vinyl. 6 ml/0,2 oz. RRP: 28 euros) is supposed to intensify the lashes without a thickening effect. You can probably use this on its own. Needless to say, my lashes need more help so I layer.
It might be a little surprising to see that instead of a wand, Mister Intense Black comes with a doe-foot applicator, but it actually makes sense. The formula is on the wet side, so try not to sneeze or move your eyes too much before it dries down.
Givenchy Mister Intense Black Mascara Top Coat swatch:
I don’t see that much of a difference in terms of color with Mister Intense Black on. However, it does give the lashes a glossy finish, and it lifts them up for a more intense curl. If you want very natural-looking and well-separated lashes, I don’t think you will enjoy it very much. If you don’t get too ambitious, this doesn’t necessarily make the lashes stick together. However, the end result is definitely more dramatic than wearing a mascara alone.
Here is how Givenchy Palette Metallic Reflection and Mister Intense Black look on me. I first lined my eyes pretty thickly with Urban Decay Rockstar before patting the purple taupe in the inner third, the copper pink in the middle, and the burgundy brown in the outer third. I also used the burgundy brown over my lower lash line and the pale pink in my inner corners. My lashes look a bit stuck-together here because of a mishap I had with my base coat. If you check out the eye closeup here, you will be able to see that Mister Intense Black is perfectly capable of keeping the lashes separated!
I know I do glittery/smokey looks for the blog often enough, but I can’t remember the last time I was so genuinely happy with the result that I decided to wear one out. I ended up doing just that with this look, and it was so empowering!
Before I forget, there is a limited edition Le Vernis in the collection, Rouge Acajou (28. RRP: 23,50 euros):
Rouge Acajou is a rusty brick red that manages not to look old and dull. The consistency is slightly thicker, but it is easy to apply and basically a one coater. I always do two for the lasting power tho!

A few more shots for you to see the eyes in context:
All in all, while I know Palette Metallic Reflection is not something most people can wear on a daily basis, it is a piece I’d highly recommend this season. There are so many ways for sparkling eyeshaows to go wrong, but Givenchy managed to avoid all of them and the result is exquisite!
When was the last time YOU went out with a sparkling smokey eye? I can’t pretend I will be doing it all the time, because I feel more at ease with a bolder lip (creature of habit). Still. I have to apologize to all those who had the misfortune of seeing me that day, because I most probably forced you to look at my pretty sparkling lids!
